More Ikea Karlstad looks…

So have been obsessing about whether the sofa I am about to purchase looks cheap. This post on Apartment Therapy has made me feel slightly better…

Basically its the same sofa style by two different stylists with some really nice results.

Flat we almost bought

This is a place we looked at a while ago that we almost put an offer on. We didn’t in the end as it was in a ground floor, council flat that was a little bit scary. We were told by the estate agent that it was owned by a couple of designers that did it over for living in but ended having to move. I had forgotten I saved the photos from the agents website.

What’s weird is that I always liked the design sensibility but looking back now, its totally white and retro which is exactly what I am currently doing…

Something to do on a rainy weekend…

So I have been thinking about the George Nelson bench for use as a coffee table.  Since we have pretty much agreed on the white leather Karlstad sofa from Ikea, this looked to be a pretty good match.

What I came across when looking for photos to post on this blog was a link to Humble Ablog where this couple made one out of Legos! They then shot a stop motion video to document it all… very cool…

And dad told me not to mix and match…

So dad thinks that its a bad idea for me to try and furnish the house through my own sense of creativity. He suggests I go to Ikea, pick one of the rooms and just buy the whole lot. So I have been doubting myself for the past week.

But then I went to The Modern House where I used to look at homes which I could not afford. Made me more confident of my choice and taste.

Off to Ikea to get a frame for this Shepard Fairey print I got from Ebay.

Back to white sofa…

Ikea Karlstad is very similar to the one I used to have when we lived in Melbourne. When we last visited Ikea a few weeks ago, we considered one in white fabric. They have the removable, washable cover so more practical than initially thought.

KARLSTAD Three-seat sofa

A bit boring which is why I discounted it but I have just realised that they do it in a leather which has the tufting. I this makes it more mid-century looking and as such much more to my aesthetic. What do you think?

This is a fabric version which I saw on Apartment Therapy. Looks awesome.
